Othman is the current occupant of the A. Baur & Co. Memorial Chair, which is reserved for the Principal Second Violin of the Society. He made his CMSC debut in 2009. Born in Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK, he schooled at Cambridge HIgh, New Zealand, and at the Royal Conservatory at The Hague, Netherlands.

His interests outside music include solar refrigeration using Ferro-cement construction. His diverse music interests takes in the work of Gunadasa Kapuge and Bill Evans.
